Supplement Secrets for Beautiful Skin
As you may have read in my previous post, I have suffered from skin problems the majority of my young adult life. I tried many different skincare products and truly none of them worked for me. I would cover my face with foundation every day to mask the redness and cover up spots because I just felt so insecure and uncomfortable with my skin.
Once I started to get into a wellness routine, I really began to notice a huge difference in how clear my skin was. Eating whole foods and incorporating the correct natural supplements for your body is the best-kept secret to balancing your hormones and clearing up your skin!
Today, I am proud to say that I no longer cover up my skin with makeup and it is unbelievably liberating!! So without further ado, the two key supplements that I incorporate into my daily routine and swear by are Probiotics and Chlorella!
I take a daily probiotic and incorporate probiotic-rich foods into my meals as often as I can. The reason being is that the GI tract and skin are both organs of detoxification. We need a healthy microbiome in the gut to break down food, absorb nutrients, and eliminate toxins. When our gut is not healthy, and there are more bad bacteria than good bacteria, that's when the problems start, including chronic inflammation, which is a cause of acne and other skin problems. So, if you are looking to clear up your skin, you have to start healing your gut people!
I take Chlorella in tablet form twice a day. It contains immune-boosting vitamin C and is rich in protein, omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, iron, and fiber. Ensuring you get adequate amounts of these nutrients is what helps give your skin a natural glow. Extracts from chlorella also aide in the production of your skin's collagen, which is the primary protein responsible for elasticity. If you have red tones in your complexion like I do, the antioxidants in chlorella help to protect your skin cells from damage brought on by free radicals and sun damage.
