You may be asking yourself why the word ‘probiotic’ has all of a sudden made an appearance on your morning green juice label or why people are adding this supplement into their daily routine? Well, in short, it’s working wonders for your gut health! Probiotics are the naturally occurring ‘good’ bacteria that live in your gut and play a significant role in your overall wellness.

For years we have been misled that bacteria is bad for our health. We have all probably taken an antibiotic or two to cure illnesses or bought the pasteurized honey thinking the bacteria will do us more harm than good. We couldn't be more wrong! Many of our generation today suffer from digestive and immune issues and this is mainly due to the lack of good bacteria present in our gut.

When you’re healthy, your intestinal tract hosts a crew of more than 100 trillion good bacteria, who spend their days aiding digestion, boosting your immune system and consuming bad bacteria. They manufacture key nutrients and limit the growth of yeast and unhealthy bacteria — and, in their spare time, they also help inhibit bouts of lactose intolerance, poor digestion and our need to sprint to the loo. Most of us would be surprised to know just how little of the good bacteria actually lives in our gut. Poor diet, stress, pollution and antibiotic use can wipe out the good guys – so it's important that you fortify and repopulate your gut with healthy bacteria to strengthen your immunity!
