Persimmon Porridge Recipe - Kris Gill

What Sunday morning looks like when you discover persimmon for the first time! Have you tried this sweet, honey-like fruit? It tastes heavenly on a warm bed of oats ++ it’s packed with skin loving vitamin a The perfect fruit for the cold, dry season if you ask me!

  • 1 persimmon (peeled and chopped)

  • 2 tbsp organic cane sugar

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

  • 2/3 cup oats (covered in filtered water)

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 organic egg

  • 1 tsp sliced almonds

*makes 2 servings

Start with the stewed persimmons - peel the skin, chop into small pieces and place in a pan on medium heat. Add sugar, cinnamon and a tiny splash of water. Bring to a simmer, then reduce. In another pan, prepare your oats. Simmer the oats and water then add the cinnamon. Once the oats are cooked crack in the egg and whisk whisk whisk! This is what makes my oat recipes extra creamy! Trust me.

Now it’s time to assemble! Place your oats in bowls, top with stewed persimmon, sliced almonds and an extra dusting of cinnamon for good measure! xx
